The diversity scholarship supports minority students who are committed to serving minority communities. Research shows mindfulness practices such as meditation help people deal with stress, anxiety and trauma. Graduates of our Meditation Teacher Training program learn skills to provide training to diverse and underserved populations. This is a time when meditation teachers can serve as leaders and teach empowering life skills. We need your support to continue to offer financial aid to those with a goal of giving back.
This certification program gives school teachers the tools recognize, identify, and cope with stress and trauma in their personal lives as well as with students. This program covers the Physiology of Stress and Trauma, Resiliency, Empathy and Compassion, Empowerment, and Mindfulness. TMC is providing the Adelphi school district in Maryland a significant discount on this training, so we need to raise the funds to cover our costs of providing this program and expanding it to other schools.
Childhood is the most precious time to teach the lifelong skills of mindfulness. TMC develops programs for school systems to provide students with mindfulness, yoga, stress management, and wellness education. TMC also develops classes, retreats and certification programs for teachers, school counselors and staff. These programs are offered as online trainings or in-person workshops during professional days.
Our Mother’s Haven program teaches mindfulness-based behavioral therapies to help mother’s abstain and recover from addiction by providing motivation for behavioral change. Through this program we have been able to provide safe, affordable and effective interventions for preventing drug-relapse and sustaining a drug-free lifestyle. Mother’s Haven was launched in Baltimore, and has been so effective that it has expanded to other counties in Maryland and Virginia.
Our Veteran Reintegration Program provides instruction in mindfulness-based practices to veterans suffering from chronic pain, sleep issues, stress and PTSD. Mindfulness meditation, and other forms of moving meditation (yoga and Tai Chi) are foundational to physical, mental and emotional well-being, providing the opportunity to greatly improve quality of life for U.S. veterans. Mind-body therapies, such as meditation, yoga, and tai chi are being used by VA hospitals and military organizations across the country to provide relief from the traumas of war and the mental anguish that follows.
Our Mind-Body for Cancer wellness program is an eight hour workshop exploring special topics such as nutrition, exercise and emotional health for people diagnosed with cancer, caretakers and healthcare providers. This workshop teaches evidence-based Mind-Body practices based on current scientific research, for improving quality of life and rates of survival for cancer patients. We provide this program free of charge for anyone who has been diagnosed with cancer.
We greatly appreciate your support.
